Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most often about this feature.
What does the OctoFin dashboard show?
The countdown to your next interview, your mastery and activity over 7 or 30 days, your readiness score (overall or for your next interview), your three weakest chapters, your day, your upcoming interviews and recommended content for each one.
Progress or Interview view: what’s the difference?
Progress measures what you’ve covered: finished lessons, questions mastered in Practice, interview reports read. Interview estimates your chances of answering correctly, on the day of your next interview, on the topics that bank asks about according to interview reports.
Why is my interview-day score lower than today’s?
Because forgetting is factored in: without review between now and then, what you know tonight won’t be worth as much on the interview date. The interview’s page shows both numbers, and a few reviews before the day narrow the gap.
Is the whole interview in the score?
No, and the page says so under the number (“Based on” a share of what comes up). Topics with no practice questions, such as your background or brainteasers, stay outside the score: the page names them and suggests preparing them out loud with Octo.
How is mastery calculated?
Across the whole question bank: a mastered question counts more than one in progress, and a weak or unseen question doesn’t count. The line shows where your mastery stood at the end of each day, over 7 or 30 days.
Does the dashboard track my time spent?
No. It measures neither your hours nor your days in a row: it shows what you’ve mastered, what’s slipping and what’s ahead. The activity line counts the lessons and sessions completed each day.
What does a brand-new account see?
A prompt to take a 10-question diagnostic, at the top of the page. Until you’ve answered anything, the chapters card invites you to start a first session; with no interview, the recommendations fit in a single “Preparation” column.
