Octo, the AI assistant that knows your prep.

What it can do
One situation, one useful answer.
Pick a situation: the question, Octo’s answer, and what makes it useful.
Example
Why does an LBO create value?
Through three levers: earnings growth, debt paid down by the target, and sometimes a higher exit multiple. The LBO lesson goes into detail.
- Lesson: the LBO
It explains, and cites its sources
A clear answer, at the level a recruiter expects, that names the lesson to dig into. It explains: it doesn’t copy.
Using it well
A first round at Lazard, prepared with Octo.
Five days before the interview. Each of Octo’s answers points you to the right resource, and your prep builds up on the right.
I have a first-round M&A interview at Lazard on Friday. Where do I start?
Octo is counting what comes up in interviews…
Across the 9 first-round M&A interview reports at Lazard, DCF comes up in 6. It’s also your weakest chapter: start there.
What trips candidates up in this round?
Octo is going through interview reports…
Two reports flag the same trap: going from enterprise value to equity value, out loud, with no calculator. This report walks through the exchange.
I always mix up enterprise value and equity value.
Enterprise value belongs to all capital providers; take away net debt to get what belongs to shareholders. The Bridge lesson shows it step by step.
Book me a Bridge session before Friday.
Octo is checking your calendar…
Wednesday from 21:00 to 21:45 is free. Shall I suggest it?

Its limits
What Octo doesn’t do.
An assistant you can trust also tells you what it won’t do.
It doesn’t copy out a lesson
It explains and summarizes in its own words: OctoFin’s content is never reproduced word for word.
It doesn’t advise on your investments
Octo teaches finance for interviews. “Should I buy this stock?” isn’t a question for it.
The small button isn’t Octo
At the bottom right of other pages, it helps you find your way around the platform without using credits, and sends you to Octo for finance questions.
It can make mistakes
The screen reminds you under the input: check key points in the lesson it cites.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most often about this feature.
What is Octo?
It is OctoFin’s AI assistant, specialized in finance interview prep. It explains curriculum concepts using the platform’s lessons, practice questions and interview reports, and it takes your interviews and your level into account.
Can Octo make mistakes?
Yes, like any generated answer. It only gives a number about OctoFin if it has counted it, and says when it isn’t sure, but always check a decisive point in the lesson it cites. Octo’s screen reminds you of this under the input.
How many messages can I send?
Each message to Octo uses one credit. You get a number of credits that refills automatically every month, and your balance shows in the conversations column. The navigation assistant, the button at the bottom right of other pages, doesn’t use any credits.
How does the fit interview work?
Octo pulls background, motivation and behavioral questions that were actually asked at the bank of your next interview, or at comparable firms when that bank has few reports, and tells you where each question comes from. It asks them one by one, in writing, and gives four-part feedback after each answer. A wrap-up closes the interview.
Does Octo answer in English?
Yes. Set “Answer language” to EN in the conversations column: it then answers in English, with the vocabulary used on a bank desk, whatever language you write in.
Your next question deserves more than a generic answer.
Add your interview, then open Assistant: Octo will start from your bank and your level.
